A disturbing early-morning phone call from her sister inspired Lydia Floyd to give life to Hands for Hope. Lydia learned that her sister was in peril of losing her job, due to another inescapable absence from work in order to care for a sick child. Ms. Lydia's sister is a single mom and she, like so many others, has scant resources in times of emergency. Lydia believed there needed to be somewhere for single parents to turn for assistance with the monumental task of child-rearing.

Hands for Hope is a non-profit organization incorporated in March 2000. Since inception, we have moved steadily towards making a significant difference in the lives of single parents and underprivileged youth in the San Fernando Valley.
