Lydia Floyd
Founder/Executive Director
Lydia Floyd has undertaken a mission to see that children of the San Fernando Valley are supported and encouraged by a new kind of community-based program.
A Senior Financial Analyst who switched to a career in computers, Lydia realized she missed her true calling: to be with, and care for, children. Working at Hands for Hope and directing a children's choir have fulfilled her longing to make a difference in the lives of as many children as possible.
Lydia comes by her passion for children honestly: while Lydia was a youngster in Brooklyn, her mother raised four children, cared for over thirty foster kids, and still had enough room to welcome any of her nine siblings who would come from distant Panama to live in America. Ms. Floyd's current home is also a place of loving refuge, filled with children, neighbors, friends and lots of activity.
Lydia Floyd's interest in the youth of her community has multiplied ever since the official launching of Hands for Hope in March 2000. She remains a dedicated, visionary leader of the Hands for Hope staff and caring guide to our kids.
